As you may remember from last Monday’s post, I received a tube of Stainiac as part of my June Birchbox. Stainiac is a lip tint made by theBalm. It’s gel based, so it’s easy to apply and blends well.
Having never experimented with lip stains before, I didn’t quite know what to expect. I started with one coat. It took a moment, but within a few seconds of applying it, the tint really started to show. I applied a second swipe to even and bolden the color.
I’ve been using Stainiac for about a week now, and I have to say, I’m impressed with this product! The color is buildable and it lasts for hours. I like the texture – there’s no sheen, no stickiness, not even the feeling of a matte lipstick. It actually doesn’t feel like I’m wearing anything on my lips at all! Though it does stain (duh), I find that the color comes off fairly easily when I brush my teeth.
The only downside I’ve found so far is that the tint is quick to fade where my lips meet. Eating, drinking and the general moisture in the area make it difficult to maintain even color. It stays perfectly pigmented on the flesh of my lips, though. Here’s what it looks like as I write this, after applying two coats seven (that’s right, SEVEN!) hours ago:
Not too bad! I’m definitely inspired to try other lip tints for a well-rounded comparison. I would recommend Stainiac for those times when you want a little bit of tint without the hassle of having to reapply.
How about you? Have you any experience with lip tints?
